MOREGANIC ANNOUNCES TRANSITION TO NON-PROFIT GOVERNANCE STRUCTURE

Programme launches next phase of development focused on biodiversity, transparency, traceability and long-term stakeholder stewardship.

Belgium, 8 June 2026 – Moreganic® announces plans to transition the programme to a non-profit association, marking the next stage in the evolution of the biodiversity-first sustainability initiative.

The proposed structure will establish a dedicated non-profit institutional home for the Moreganic® standards, governance framework, collective trademark operated by the Association and made available to participating members in accordance with defined usage rules, and future programme development activities. The transition is expected be completed during the second half of 2026.

Establishing a long-term institutional home

Moreganic® intends to establish a Belgian non-profit association (VZW/ASBL), referred to in this announcement as the “Association”. The Association is expected to become the long-term steward of the Moreganic system and to support a governance model with broader stakeholder participation, transparent rules, and clear separation between programme stewardship, independent verification processes, and commercial supply-chain activities.

The Moreganic® label will operate as a collective trademark owned by the Association, which approved members of the Association may use in accordance with defined programme standards and trademark usage rules, and subject to annual verification audits.

From field-based initiative to international programme

Originally developed through practical work alongside natural rubber producers in Thailand, Moreganic® has evolved from a field-based initiative into an emerging international agroforestry programme supporting biodiversity enhancement, responsible land management, verified farmer premiums, traceability, and supply chain transparency.

The transition reflects the programme's belief that sustainability systems are strongest when they are governed independently, developed transparently, and designed to create value for a broad range of stakeholders.

ASSOCIATION PILLARS

The transition is intended to strengthen governance rather than materially alter the core principles of the programme, which remain centred on biodiversity enhancement, verified farmer premiums, traceability, independent verification and responsible sourcing.

Under the proposed structure, the future Association is expected to serve as the steward of:

  • The Moreganic® standards framework

  • Governance and oversight of the programme

  • Recognition and oversight of independent third-party verification bodies

  • Management of stakeholder consultation processes

  • Public reporting and transparency initiatives

  • The Moreganic® label and collective trademark

  • Future programme development

A diverse board for broad stakeholder representation

As part of the governance transition, Moreganic® also intends to establish an inaugural Board of Directors bringing together expertise from sustainability, agroforestry, agriculture, certification, supply chains, science, and industry. Over time, the Board is expected to reflect the broader range of agroforestry systems and members and stakeholders participating in the programme. The transition is designed to create a long-term institutional home for Moreganic that can support future programme expansion, stakeholder participation, and international recognition.

"From the beginning, Moreganic® was always meant to be more than a label. We wanted to create a practical system capable of delivering measurable environmental, ethical, and economic value at both farm and consumer levels while creating greater transparency throughout the supply chain," said Remy Tack, Founder of Moreganic®.

"As the programme has grown, it has become increasingly clear that achieving that vision requires a governance structure capable of serving the long-term interests of all participants. This transition represents a natural next step in that journey."

Strengthening transparency & accountability

The governance transition will be accompanied by a public consultation process covering the Moreganic Farm Management Standard and Chain of Custody Standard.

Moreganic® also confirmed its intention to appoint an independent third-party verification Body and continue the rollout of digital traceability systems designed to strengthen transparency, integrity, and accountability across its value chains.

The programme expects to publish additional information regarding governance, public consultation, and future Board formation over the coming months.
